Why Target the Cancer Stem Cells?

TumorGen MDx is dedicated to developing a microfluidic system, The CSC3 device, which can capture Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs).  New research shows that simply shrinking a cancer tumor is not enough to improve patient survival.  However reducing the number of Cancer Stem Cells can help prevent tumor micrometastases thus improving long term patient survival.  An excellent presentation by Max Wicha, MD at the Univ. of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, provides an overview on CSCs and the rationale for targeting these deadly cells in new clinical trials. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG22BEXscQE
